A note to our readers: We cannot thank you enough for your support throughout this project. We hope you can read a brand-new issue of The Looking Glass in the future. For now, however, we must part ways. Our articles are still available for access on this website, under "Archives". You can still contact us anytime via our email: [email protected]. We hope you have enjoyed reading this publication as much as we have enjoyed producing it.
Dear The Looking Glass staff,
It is with a heavy heart that we write to you today announcing the disbandment of The Looking Glass, effective immediately. We have tried to explore every possible avenue to see how we can move forward, however, with past and present changes in our personal lives and those of much of our staff members, we feel we can no longer continue running the publication to the same high standard we set out when we released our first issue in July of 2020.
Our time on The Looking Glass has been some of the most rewarding in our high school careers. We are extremely proud of the work we have done, and we hope it has been the same for you. We still stand strongly in support of the mission of our paper and will endeavour to honour it as we move forward in our personal lives and professional careers. We hope you will too. We cannot wait to see where your futures will take you. If you ever need a reference, any support, or other resources that we can offer to you, please never hesitate to reach out to us. Our doors will be open to you all long after today, and we hope to stay in touch as acquaintances and perhaps, friends.
Although this puts a hold on the publication of this newspaper, we hope it to be a mere temporary pause. Should you or someone you know want to reignite the spark that has kept the paper going in its first year of publication, let us know, and you will have our full support and backing, and we will vouch for you for our friends at Canadian Youth Journalism Project, who are an amazing resource as well. We want to see The Looking Glass publish again, in the hands of passionate youth who want nothing more than to express themselves freely and truthfully.
We know this news may seem sudden to some of you, and we are here to talk if you need to. We hope we have made an impact on our readers and in your lives, whether that was just allowing you to write about something you couldn’t have written otherwise, or something more profound. We sincerely thank you for all the time and dedication you have all invested into this publication to date, and we hope to cross paths with all of you sometime soon.
Until we see each other again, we wish you all the very best.
Sincerely,
Alan and Zoe
